This project has been fun to work on, not all hats are getting finished but that’s what snowstorms and power outages are for right? To lounge around after chores are done. We have certainly have had our far share of snow storms and power outages over the last several months and we still have a few months of winter left.
I’ve been experimenting with dying more
Very much looking forward to finishing my current order so I can sit behind my spinning wheel again and spin up some luscious yarn to dye. Yarn stores are nice, but it is nice to be able to make your own unique color-way.
Speaking of orders
I am on a roll, five more to go!
Stay warm folks!
Happy new year to all you folks out there! I spent the first part of my New Year’s Eve cleaning my always messy craft room, so far it has stayed clean.
The other side of course is still messy, it’s a never ending work in progress.
It’s been nice to work in there with the wood stove roaring during these cold days (-15 anyone?), the wind has been blowing non stop, but is sure does look pretty outside
I have several projects going on ( Don’t I always?), I am still working on the usual things, however those have been out on a back-burner while I finish up an order for 8 moose loveys.
I am really loving the plaid stitch, this is the first time I have ever attempted it and it turned out to be easier than I expected.
As you can see in the first picture, I have a rather large amount of yarn…..I’ve been called a hoarder, while I wouldn’t say that I’m at that level (I can see my floor and move around), I may have a slight…fiber addiction… however I am resolved to use a little bit up each day.
I was inspired by Nadia over at Yarnutopia with her 365 days of granny squares, so I thought “what a great way to use up some yarn” and you know I’ll be able to make that granny square Christmas tree that has been going around.
Not only am I doing squares but I am doing basic crochet hats as well, Are they pretty? Not all of them but why not.
Have a nice night folks! Stay warm!!
Today I want to talk to you all about pattern etiquette. I recently made a couple of these hats and today I posted this hat in a group that I am in
And I have to tell you because I have seen this before, I was pretty horrified by the first comment. “Pattern?”
Listen folks, I didn’t need a compliment, but a please would have been nice. If you can squeeze a please in, I am more than willing to give you the link to the pattern I used to make this hat.
I’d be pretty ashamed of myself for being so damn rude, if that is how I asked for a pattern.
So if you are one of those “pattern?” people, start adding a “please” in there, maybe even a “Will you please share the pattern” and my response would be “Gladly, I got this pattern from the beautiful Nadia Faud over at YARNutopia” she has fantastic patterns over there, go check her out.
As I tell my kids, manners will get you places, being rude will get you nowhere.
Now as I said I’ve been working on a couple of these hats, I have ears & tassels to finish but they have been quick and fun
I’m housebound today so finishing them should take no time
Have a great day folks & remember to use your manners.
