All that snow we got is quickly melting away, we have patches of grass in our yard right now, while I know spring won’t be here for another few weeks, and I’m certain we will have a couple more light snow storms, I can’t help but get excited at the thought of starting seeds & the baby critters headed our way!
The temperatures have been above normal this week, yesterday it was 60 degrees! That’s Mother Nature for you, always keeping you on your toes.
We are on school vacation this week which means we have built snowmen
The downside of vacation is however, the large amounts of traffic, being cut off while driving, and the worst, people throwing beer bottles in my yard. Sadly that is something I came home to yesterday and it breaks my heart. Please, I get that you want to go out joy riding and see where different roads lead (we really need a dead end sign on our road), but please don’t drink while doing it and if it as passanger drinking and not yourself, please have a spare trash bag with you so you aren’t littering.
The fine in the state of NH is $150 for having an open alcoholic beverage in your car, however the fine for littering is is up to one year in prison and up to $2,000. I personally don’t think either is worth it. So wait till you are at home folks, okay?
Sorry to be a buzz kill but we work hard to keep our property clean for our children & our animals, the people in my town work hard picking up trash off the side of the roads to keep our town looking nice. Consider this before you so carelessly toss trash out your window. Be part of the solution, not part of the problem
Isn’t it beautiful, so soft and silky, like a cloud. I am loving it! Once again I purchased this on etsy from StickChick and I highly recommend it (I’m not getting paid to advertise her page, I just really love her product, though I do get paid a small commission if you purchase something from the ads over there ——> )
And with that note, I hope you all have a wonderful day folks!!
I recently purchased four knitters pride dreamz crochet hooks and sadly have misplaced the size H. I have torn every room apart looking for this hook and alas it seems to have disappeared, however it has inspired me to organize my tools a little better. I got a good chunk of the organizing done this morning before the kids were released early from school.
Then I ran out of steam, not even the two large mugs of coffee helped.
“Did you find your hook?!” I found several H hooks, though not the one I am searching for.
Hopefully I get this project finished soon because I bought some pretty fabric that I have plans for and I’m ready to start cutting
One fiber related project I am hoping to finish up today is this Divine Hat that a friend asked me to make for her to match the mittens from the previous post
I have another fun fiber treat coming my way in the mail, I ordered 4oz of beautiful merino/silk/yak roving from StickChick it’s my first time ordering from her shop and I am very excited for this roving to arrive!
That’s all I have for you this week folks! Hope the rest of your week is fantastic!
Time is flying these days, when I’m not on the go, this spoiled furry princess is commanding my attention
We have even MORE babies keeping us on our toes
I already have one item ready to go
This beautiful Ashland bay silk & merino yarn, spun up from fiber I got forever ago, yarn I started ages ago. 191 yards. I have more of the same fiber to spin up and I need a warm day to go card more fiber to spin.
When that warm day will happen, I’m not sure. You see this was exactly a week ago.
My kids had no desire to help me, I bribed Leif just to come hang outside with me while I built the chicken and the pig (that looks more like my sisters pitbull lol). Since then we’ve had very few warm days and it has been steadily raining since my birthday party on Sunday.
Yep, yesterday I completed a trip a round the Sun and I’m ready for trip 32! My “party” was super de duper small but I had fun decorating
I spent my birthday working on a strip quilt, which may or may not have cause my anxiety attack yesterday
Well folks, I’m gonna go hang out with my feather friends and work on some projects for the fair. Have a great day!!!
Hello *waves*, I am back from my unplanned sabbatical. We’ve had a few weeks of craziness going on here, and as a result I am still trying to catch up on sleep, so I can catch up on knitting & crochet projects.
First I just want to take a quick moment to talk about domestic abuse. I’m not going to go into full details, but I have a friend who over the past year has been a victim of domestic abuse, first with words, then with control, towards the end she wasn’t allowed to talk to anyone, including her child, and after came the physical abuse.
I am happy to say that, she has made it out of that relationship and will hopefully be getting help. I am hoping her boyfriend will be getting some professional help as well. If you know of someone who is being abused, as scary as it is, please speak up. You could be saving someone’s life.
I’ve never been more afraid, then when my friend banged on my window at 2:00 in the morning, I’ve never shaken so much sitting in my house with the doors locked and the lights off, waiting for the cops to arrive. My friend was crying and terrified, she is safe now, and will hopefully never have to go through something like that again.
If you are in an abusive relationship, there are ways out. Shelters, safe houses, or maybe even a family member or friend. No matter what, don’t take the blame for their actions, don’t make excuses for them. There is no excuse to verbally, mentally, or physically harm someone. Break the cycle.
Now on to something a little more uplifting and positive, and fluffy
I am ready for all of that to be yarn when we move next summer. I actually just finished spinning a pound of alpaca, yeah you read that right a POUND
I am in the process of crocheting three scarves for a friend, with the yarn above. That too did not happen without a little trial and error, so I broke the rules. Yeah that’s right, I’m a crochet rebel. 6″ wide and 60″ down?! Heck no, 60″ wide and 6″ down is how I role, and the first scarf looks really good if I say so myself.
I was hoping to have them done tonight, but guess what?! I have kids. They like to sit on my lap when they see me working with yarn, they like to get out of bed twenty five times a night and when I set my alarm to go off at 5:15 in the morning with the thought of knitting, guess who is up half an hour before that alarm goes off?! You know what though?! I wouldn’t trade them for all the yarn in the world, now that’s love.
I probably won’t write again until sometime next week, this week I have rehearsals and three performances of The Nutcracker!! I am super excited! If you happen to live in the North Western part of NH, you may or may not have seen fliers for it, and if you have, well what are you waiting for?! Go buy yourself some tickets! Friday, Saturday, and Sunday,
I have two finished items to share with you this week, and then I will leave you with a picture of Aileys latest obsession
I’m couch bound today, it’s not that I have the flu so much, I just have awful back pain with a bit of…never mind you don’t need hear details. There are pros and cons to not feeling well, the pros being that if some unsuspecting visitor were to stop by and see the piles of dishes on my counter, I have a good excuse, the downside is that I have now have a messy house.
Right now the cons out way the pros, sure I get to cuddle up and read knitting magazines
I’m not proud of what happened next….yeah, but you got good deals
Before I could talk myself out of it I started adding items to my cart, I then texted Toph, surly he would disapprove and remind me that I have a lot of wool left to spin in my craft room. However I didn’t say “I want to buy wool”, I said “I want to buy rovings, that have already been carded and are good to go”. He gave me the okay and now suddenly I am expecting
I have since given myself a lecture and I’m not allowed to purchase anymore fiber until all my wool is spun up, also I am now donating almost a tub full of (commercial) yarn to my knitting class….to make room for the fiber that is coming.
Alright folks, I’m going to go chug some orange juice and chicken broth and muster up some energy to I can at least sweep and vacuum. I’ll leave the links to the etsy stores below, I am an enabler.
Well friends, I’ve been experimenting that’s never good, I usually buy white wool so I can dye it whatever color I wish, now the icelandic wool was sitting around waiting for me, so I finally took matters into my own hands and started experimenting.
My first experiment was with kool-aid….now I had I taken the time to research more, I would have known which kool-aid colors to purchase…you see, my kids don’t drink kool-aid or any juice really (that’s just how we roll). So I assumed that the green package would be green and the blue package would be blue. No instead I had red, yellow, & orange for colors.
The next day I tried again, this time with Wilton food dye
I let the wool dry out in my bathroom for a few days, not knowing how long it would take to dry. It took a little longer then excepted but we had cold weather which caused out forced hot water heat to not work, and then our pipes froze and burst (right next to the wool woo hoo). So after all that jazz, it was finally dry enough for me to test out
Here is something else I just finished spinning
Now time to card up the wool I just dyed!
Have a great day folks!!
