Babies everywhere

We have 102 new babies in the house and are they ever cute!!

They are all happy and healthy and noisy!!

The ducklings have been moved to the greenhouse for a few weeks, until they can get big enough to join last years ducks. Sadly we did lose one before the move was made.

We have had a busy week this past week, not only was school on vacation, but we planted fruit trees

That so far have been left alone by our daily visitors, hopefully this will continue so we may get proper fencing.

I am finally pain free…in my hands, I am happy that I am now able to pick up my knitting or crochet without wincing. Though my head is still hurting slightly and I am having a hard time focusing on pattern, I’ve worked on a few items

I’ve recently started a mermaid tote bag, I am using red heart unforgettable yarn. I know some people aren’t fans, but I have no complaints.

I’ve also almost finished the first skien of a Caron cake on my granny square blanket.

For weeks I’ve been thinking of the pattern I wanted to use with the fabric I have for Lorelai’s quilt. I had my heart set on the Ohio Star, and though I watched many videos, and read many version of the pattern, I could not figure it out. It looks easy enough, though as I previously stated my head is still hurting, so it’s as if it goes in one ear and out the other.

Yesterday a friend from quilting was able to help me and this was the outcome!

I’m happy with the turn out and I am looking forward to practicing more over these next rainy days, so that I may start cutting the fabric intended for the quilt.
I hope you all have a fantastic week!

And just like that

Spring has finally arrived.

Several days of 75+ weather and a rain storm has rid us of the snow..aside from a few patches here and there.

Just in time for the fruit trees and berry bushes to arrive

Soon birds and the bunnies will be returned to their summertime homes so grass can be nibbled and dirt can be scratched, but best of all, the mini garden I have going on in my living room will all make its way to the warmth of the greenhouse.

Onions, peppers, eggplants, celery, cabbages, chives, and six different kinds of tomatoes are all ready to go. It will be nice to have a jumpstart on veggies this year for not only ourselves, but for the fine folks at the farmers market that we will soon be a vendor at.

Have a great weekend folks!

Patience Grasshopper

It’s very hard to wait for things to pass through your system, when it effects your entire body, on good days when my hands don’t hurt I tend to over do it. Which has two results, the first being a baby sweater that went from 3″ to 75% completed (which is amazing considering in my brain fog, I knit the button holes on the wrong side of the sweater, which meant frogging 11 rows and starting again)

The second result is that despite not touching a crochet hook or knitting needle since Thursday, my hands and fingers are swollen & painful. I need to learn to some patience to let it all pass….I should probably stay off of ravelry as well.

So as to not make it worse, Leif is the one who made the homemade gluten free doughnuts this past week

He has also been reading with Hobbes recently

And has moved on to new interests. For the first time in a year, he picked out a book from the library that had nothing to do with minecraft.

More seeds have been started….despite the fact that it looks like Spring and Winter are in cahoots (did we really get 16″ of snow this weekend and do we really have more snow on the way?!)

Along with onions, we now have cabbages and eggplant started and we repotted some high blueberry bush cuttings

Now on to what you’ve all been waiting for, I won’t tease you any longer

The babies have arrived and they are cute

They are all in good health despite arriving a day later than expected.

Lots of noise happening the the breezeway and on warm days I set up a folding chair and sit out there with them so they get used to me.

Have a great week folks!

Hats & ducklings

So I did manage to get some other things done yesterday that other then sitting in the barn.

A friend is having her first boy and asked me to crochet a baseball baby hat for her sons newborn pictures. Once I finally figured out the pattern it was a breeze, this morning another friend asked me if I would make her one as well.

I guess I was off on the duckling count, I had thought 15 but from what I counted this morning, there are 14 ducklings.

Have a great day folks!
