Oh no!!

I had a nice long post written out, alas it has disappeared. That being said, I will leave you with a picture of the sandal I crocheted. I’m not thrilled with it & plan on starting over.

Slacker

Ok I admit it, I have hardly started on the sleeves of my sweater, the rain has made me sluggish and I’ve had to catch up on laundry & making chicken stock to fill my pantry for the upcoming Fall & Winter.

Today the sun played peekaboo behind dark ugly clouds, it stayed cool outside and Carrick spent is first day outside in his pen over a week. The baby americaunas had been occupying his pen as they were too little to be around the older chickens. I hope Carrick enjoyed his day in the sun, we are going to have rain for the next two days.

I have started another project, a friend asked me to crochet her daughter a pair of sandals for her first birthday. Now honestly I’ve only crocheted once or twice in my lifetime, so I couldn’t make any promises, luckily I came across Lovely Little Life, she has a fantastic tutorial and I was able to crochet within two hours last night

Of course this sandal isn’t even close to being finished and this one was a practice sandal to see if I could do it. Needless to say, I’m pretty happy with the turn out.

Tick tock

Well, I still have to finish the sleeves. My deadline was yesterday, however I was having fun learning how to spin yarn on a spinning wheel!! I joined a spinning guild and met a lot of awesome people, who welcomed me into their guild and taught me how to spin on a wheel. I also learned the correct way to spin on a drop spindle!

I should be sleeping

Well folks, we’re into single days for my deadline, two days to be exact, and it seems as if tropical storm Andrea is coming to help out. We are due for rain tonight, which isn’t supposed to stop until Sunday. The chickens will probably stay inside their shed (which is about the size of my bedroom they’re spoiled), Carrick lives with them, the ducks will stay in the barn, and our chicks & keets will stay in the nice warm, dry house with us.

Here is where I am at currently with my bartók tunik

My kids have been enjoying their knitting and working on it everyday.

And now I leave you with a bit of cuteness

Mid morning special

20130604-110930.jpg

Just wanted to share how happy it makes me, that my kids have started knitting.

This is my six year old daughter working on her first pair of leggings! Her three year old brother wasn’t up for having his picture taken today, he is working on a green hat!

Have a great day folks!

Don’t knit when you are sick

This was me this past weekend….no that’s a lie, I wanted to be curled up in bed under blankets, my husband even took the kids for a few hours so I could lay down. However, it was sunny and I have a hard time sitting still unless I am knitting.

Of course knitting didn’t turn out to well, so I took advantage of the weather and the quiet house and went out and did some yard work. Cut brush, weeded the garden, picked up the yard. When my husband came home we put up chicken wire and built a door for the barn for a few new critters and then ended the day stacking wood for the upcoming winter.

In the end it helped, surprisingly I felt a lot better after a good days work. Unfortunately, I wish I had left my knitting for today because I now have to undo nine rows, such is life.

No new knitting pictures today, but perhaps pictures of our new babies will hold you over.

We also picked up four guinea keets, and will be picking up two more later this week.

And finally, we put our chicks outside yesterday.

Have a nice night folks!

Short and sweet

Still feeling a bit under the weather, however I finished the back of the Bartók Tunik, and I am currently working on the armholes of the front!

Hopefully I will return to full health by tomorrow. Have a nice night folks!

Will I make my deadline?!

20130530-165548.jpg
Yesterday I was feeling a tad under the weather, it should have been a sign to not work on my bartók tunik, however I went ahead and worked on it anyway…..and then proceeded to take everything I had worked on apart.

I have almost finished the heart, and am getting ready to complete the back piece, come hell or high water, I will have this finished by next weekend….and then I will probably put it on etsy.

We are going to be adding several more birds to our little barnyard, two ducks and some guinea fowl! They guineas will be a welcome addition as we are having issues with a fox. Guinea fowl are known to screech when predators come into the vicinity.

Have a great evening folks!

Getting there

20130528-091522.jpg

Well friends, I have finally moved on to the next part of the bartók tunik. I never thought it would end, I dreamt of endless hours of knitting with no results.

I separated the stitches, moving the front to a stitch holder, and am now currently working on shaping the armholes. I am excited to start adding the design as well!

I’ve had one suggestion on how to get rid of woodchucks. Mothballs were suggested and I’m very eager to try it out, as we have just planted several more rows of veggies in attempts to steer clear from the grocery store.
Here’s hoping!

Have a nice day folks!
